Samsung drops countersuit against Apple

Round one seems to be over as Samsung is reported to have dropped one of its patent-infringement lawsuits against Apple, but there will be other rounds to go since Samsung has taken this time to regroup and focus on its defense – at least this is what Bloomberg claims. Samsung spokesman Nam Ki Yung did speak to Bloomberg, where the South Korean consumer electronics giant dropped the suit at the end of June in order “to streamline the legal proceedings.” They will not, however, give up on their patent defences in a different counter-claim in a suit that was filed by Apple at the same US federal court in San Jose, California.

Guess there should no longer be any more disputes concerning Apple copying Samsung’s range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets when creating the iPhone and iPad, respectively. As for Apple, they claim that they were the victim, and Samsung the perpetrator instead. Playground theatrics by adults? You decide.

Samsung Galaxy S II goes all Mango on us

The Samsung Galaxy S II might have pledged its allegiance to the Android cause at the moment, but what happens when the unexpected comes about? We are talking about rumors of Windows Phone 7 running on the Galaxy S II. Yes sir, this might just be the successor to the Samsung Focus, where a listing in the Bluetooth SIG database for the Samsung SGH-i937 has been uncovered, whereby said phone shares similar characteristics to that of the Mango Bluetooth SIG stack. Using the powers of deduction, that translates to a highly likely Windows Phone 7 device which ought to arrive on AT&T.

But what about the theory that the Galaxy S II is being converted for Windows Phone 7 use? Well, since the Focus was known as the SGH-i917, with AT&T’s actual Galaxy S II carrying the model number SGH-i927, put two and two together and you get such an equation.

What do you think? Are there flaws in such a line of thinking, or is it a very real possibility? We guess only time will be able to tell, but for now, Windows Phone 7 fans have something to get excited about.

Samsung Dart officially launched by T-Mobile USA

Yesterday, we told you that T-Mobile USA will be launching Samsung Dart on June 15th along with HTC Sensation 4G. Today they officially launched the Sensation 4G, and also the Samsung Dart. As we told you, Samsung Dart is an entry level Android handset and it comes with some low-end but good specs. It comes with Swype keyboard as well as Video messaging. The phone comes with a 2 GB SD card included and it's expandable up to 32 GB, a 3 MP camera, 3.5 MM headset jack, GPS with navigation capability and some other good features.
The phone is available for free on a 2-yr contact and you can buy it for only $179 without contract. Well, as it's an entry level device, I think the price tag is so reasonable. I really love what T-Mobile did today, they also launched HTC Sensation 4G which is a high-end device and for customers who are true-smartphone users and Dart is for people who just need a touchscreen phone to call, surf web and do some messages.
So anyone planning to get their hands on Samsung Dart?
